Thoughts:

So its a very hard to get through. It touches on very real and crude situations many women find themselves trapped in. You see all kinds of toxic men and twisted family relationships.

It is a book that I could not finish, it took me making a huge effort to pick it back up. The situations made me slow to read, not because the writing was difficult to follow, the writing is easy and to the point. We do not have huge allegories or similes ... Oh no it's a very straight to the point and trapped in the very real life of the woman you are following.

I was thinking about buying it so I could annotate the physical copy but it will really take a lot of effort to get through this book again.

It touches on important topics, but I do not enjoy seeing this reality, they face such harsh worlds and have no backup from their families, from their partners, seeing such solitude and hardships is something I do not normally enjoy. The writing is so well done that I felt the desperation and rage on the page seep into me.

I can say though this book should be read but you really need to be in the right headspace to handle it.

I'm going to try more of her writing but oh my, such tough topics she touches it might not be the best idea to read all her works back to back like I tried to do. Space them out with a few more light reads in between.
