August TBR Readathons pt 1

This month there are several readathons taking place. And being an overly ambitious reader I have a few of my own challenges to add on top of the books for the readathons.

The TBR is going to be divided for easier digestion of it.

First we have #AYearaThon. From the Goodreads group. This is one of the readathons I have been participating the longest, the is the 3rd year. I have a bad memory but lets say it has been that long.

You can find the information on this group https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/123987-ayearathon

The goal is to read books fitting the theme, it is a week long.

For August it runs from the 8th to 14th and the theme is series or sequels. This is the perfect opportunity to catch up on my goal of completing 12 series.

Crossroads of twilight, Robert Jordan. The 10th book in the wheel of time. Fantasy

Fleeing from Ebou Dar with the kidnapped Daughter of the Nine Moons, whom he is fated to marry, Mat Cauthon learns that he can neither keep her nor let her go, not in safety for either of them, for both the Shadow and the might of the Seanchan Empire are in deadly pursuit.

Perrin Aybara seeks to free his wife, Faile, a captive of the Shaido, but his only hope may be an alliance with the enemy. Can he remain true to his friend Rand and to himself? For his love of Faile, Perrin is willing to sell his soul.

At Tar Valon, Egwene al'Vere, the young Amyrlin of the rebel Aes Sedai, lays siege to the heart of Aes Sedai power, but she must win quickly, with as little bloodshed as possible, for unless the Aes Sedai are reunited, only the male Asha'man will remain to defend the world against the Dark One, and nothing can hold the Asha'man themselves back from total power except the Aes Sedai and a unified White Tower.

In Andor, Elayne Trakland fights for the Lion Throne that is hers by right, but enemies and Darkfriends surround her, plotting her destruction. If she fails, Andor may fall to the Shadow, and the Dragon Reborn with it.

Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn himself, has cleansed the Dark One's taint from the male half of the True Source, and everything has changed. Yet nothing has, for only men who can channel believe that saidin is clean again, and a man who can channel is still hated and feared-even one prophesied to save the world. Now, Rand must gamble again, with himself at stake, and he cannot be sure which of his allies are really enemies.

Chapterhouse: Dune, Frank Herbert. This is the 6th book in the Dune series. Sci-Fi

The desert planet Arrakis, called Dune, has been destroyed. The remnants of the Old Empire have been consumed by the violent matriarchal cult known as the Honored Matres. Only one faction remains a viable threat to their total conquest--the Bene Gesserit, heirs to Dune's power.

Under the leadership of Mother Superior Darwi Odrade, the Bene Gesserit have colonized a green world on the planet Chapterhouse and are turning it into a desert, mile by scorched mile. And once they've mastered breeding sandworms, the Sisterhood will control the production of the greatest commodity in the known galaxy--the spice melange. But their true weapon remains a man who has lived countless lifetimes--a man who served under the God Emperor Paul Muad'Dib.

To give myself a confidence boost I will include a manga as well.

The prince of tennis vol 9 to 12, Takeshi Konomi. This translated work is going to help me at least in the Continent for Asia and the Translated ratio to go up as well.

Vol 9 Take aim

The much-anticipated match between Seishun Academy 's Ryoma Echizen and St. Rudolph's Yuta is underway, and neither of them is giving in to each other's intimidation techniques. Upon orders from Hajime, St. Rudolph's cunning team manager, Yuta must aim for Ryoma's left eye, which was accidentally injured during his previous match. Battling all odds to secure his team's victory--as well as his own on-court safety--can Ryoma formulate a strategy to tame Yuta's killer twist spin shot? And is Yuta really that evil?

Vol 10: Seize the Moment!

In preparation for the City Tournament, Seishun Academy's team captain Kunimitsu Tezuka decides to hold intra-squad games. It's a routine way for the team players to get some much-needed practice matches, but it's all fun and games until someone's competitive nature surfaces. Ryoma is pitted against Shusuke, and Ryoma wastes no time in putting on the pressure against his teammate. But with his tenacious strategy known as "Higuma Otoshi" (Bear Hunt), Shusuke's got a few tricks of his own.

Vol 11: Premonition of a storm

Practice games soar to a new level as the Seishun Academy intra-squad games get underway. Meanwhile, the semifinal match between Fudomine and Yamabuki at the City Tournament is put on ice when word reaches Kippei that his teammates were involved in a car accident. But the real fun begins when Seishun's Momo steps onto the court to play Yamabuki's Kiyosumi Sengoku. Momo sure wasn't prepared to face a player who uses a racket with an unusually low string tension.

Vol 12: Invincible Man

The next round of games are underway, and Seishun's Takeshi Momoshiro ("Momo") encounters Kiyosumi in the No. 3 Singles. Momo's in for a hard day's work, as Kiyosumi proves to be a intimidating opponent from the moment he launches his "Kohou" (Tiger Cannon), or wallop serve. Meanwhile, the Prince of Tennis Ryoma Echizen faces Yamabuki's Jin in the No. 2 Singles. Discover the "reason" why Jin can't possibly lose.

The clocks, Agatha Christie. Classic mystery. This is the 30th installment in the Hercule Poirot.

Sheila Webb, typist-for-hire, has arrived at 19 Wilbraham Crescent in the seaside town of Crowdean to accept a new job. What she finds is a well-dressed corpse surrounded by six clocks. Mrs. Pebmarsh, the blind owner of No. 19, denies all knowledge of ringing Sheila's secretarial agency and asking for her by name -- yet someone did. Nor does she own that many clocks. And neither woman seems to know the victim. Colin Lamb, a young intelligence specialist working a case of his own at the nearby naval yard, happens to be on the scene at the time of Sheila Webb's ghastly discovery. Lamb knows of only one man who can properly investigate a crime as bizarre and baffling as what happened inside No. 19 -- his friend and mentor, Hercule Poirot.

This book is going to be doubling up for another readathon Buzzwordathon created by Kayla from books and Lala. The annulment cal also be found in good reads https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1111928-buzzwordathon and youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FDCOwDZTvY

Theme: Items or objects.

This runs the whole month so I will try to fit a few more for this one. Ideally it will be 1 book per week. We'll see if I manage it!
